Harassment and Child Safety
ArcoMage is a two-player game, and two-player games mean strangers talk to each
other. We take that seriously. Adults and younger players share our tables, and a
match should never be the place where someone gets harassed, threatened, or worse.
We are not interested in being the platform where moderation was an afterthought -
so the safety systems shipped before the crowd did.
Our approach is layered - five defenses, each one independent of the others:
- 1. Profanity filtering. Every chat message is filtered as it is
delivered. Slurs and hate speech are censored for everyone by default; minors
automatically get the strictest tier, and only verified adults may relax the
filter for themselves.
- 2. Mute (Squelch). One click silences any opponent. You can still play
them - they just can't talk to you. Your mute list is yours and persists across
matches.
- 3. Report to Moderator. One click files the full chat transcript with
our moderators, and the reported player is automatically muted for 72 hours
while it is reviewed. Reports feed a review queue we actually read.
- 4. Protective review of minors' chats. Chat sessions involving players
under 18 are logged and screened - including automated keyword and AI-assisted
review - for grooming and predatory behavior. This is disclosed in our privacy
policy, and we cooperate fully with verified law-enforcement requests.
- 5. No chat for children. Players under 13 simply do not get chat.
They can duel, collect, and climb - but the chat box stays closed. No exceptions.
None of this makes a community perfect, and we will not pretend otherwise. What it
makes is a game where bad behavior is filtered on arrival, silenced on request,
reviewed when reported, and where the youngest players are simply not reachable.
That is the standard we intend to keep as ArcoMage grows.
